A Stamford felon has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Marc H. Silverman’s office.
Ricardo Georges, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 57 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for the crime.
Georges was arrested on May 7, 2022, after a search of his backpack revealed a loaded Para USA .45 ACP caliber, semi-automatic pistol, as well as a quantity of fentanyl.
At the time of his arrest, Georges was in possession of a handgun while under investigation for a shooting incident in Stamford in March 2022.
Georges’ criminal history includes felony convictions in Connecticut and New York for assault on public safety personnel, robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and multiple drug offenses.
Georges has been detained since his arrest and pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon on April 24, 2024.
The matter was investigated by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, the Stamford Police Department, and the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford-Norwalk.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings, as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the U.S. government’s violent crime reduction efforts.
