Kate Lynn Baker, Methamphetamine Manufacturing, West Virginia 2015

A 20-year-old Tyler County woman has been convicted in a methamphetamine manufacturing operation in West Virginia.

Kate Lynn Baker of Friendly, West Virginia, was found in possession of matches and pseudoephedrine, both commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, in Wetzel County.

Baker was one of six individuals charged in a 19-count federal indictment in June 2015. She pled guilty to a criminal Information charging her with one count of ‘Possession of Materials to be used in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine’.

Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Baker faces up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Baker’s case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn Adkins on behalf of the government. The West Virginia State Police and the Pleasants County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crime.

Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp presided over the case, which highlights the ongoing struggle against methamphetamine manufacturing in West Virginia.

The conviction serves as a reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat its production and distribution.
