FARGO – In a shocking case of methamphetamine trafficking, Kee Thao, a 41-year-old man from Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his involvement in the illicit trade.
The investigation, led by the Fargo Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations, uncovered a stash of approximately 10 ounces of methamphetamine in Thao’s vehicle during a search connected to a domestic dispute.
According to reports, a woman who accompanied Thao from Minneapolis to Fargo sought assistance from law enforcement, which sparked the investigation into the domestic dispute and subsequent discovery of the methamphetamine.
Thao’s violent criminal history, particularly his history of violence against women, was taken into account during sentencing. Judge Ralph R. Erickson handed down a 30-year term of supervised release following Thao’s incarceration and ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Jennifer Puhl, who worked tirelessly to bring Thao to justice for his crimes.
