A Portland man was sentenced to 156 months in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine while on federal supervision according to a recent sentence handed down to Anthony Ballard Jones, 42.
Jones, who has prior convictions for narcotics, firearms, and interstate prostitution, was initially arrested on March 23, 2022, by the FBI in Portland, Oregon.
During the arrest, agents seized a firearm and multiple bags from Jones’ vehicle which later yielded ammunition, a knife, drug packaging materials and paraphernalia, and distribution quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as cocaine and heroin.
On April 21, 2022, a federal grand jury in Eugene returned a three-count indictment charging Jones with possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Jones pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute on September 12, 2024.
He was sentenced to 156 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Olson praised the U.S. Attorney’s Office for pursuing justice in the case.
