Humberto Rodriguez, Methamphetamine Possession, Oregon 2016

EUGENE, Ore. – Humberto Rodriguez, a 33-year-old man from Malheur County, Oregon, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

On Thursday, March 3, 2016, U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken handed down the sentence to Rodriguez, who will be on supervised release for four years following his release from prison.

The events leading up to Rodriguez’s sentencing began on April 10, 2012, when an Oregon State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle in which Rodriguez was a passenger. At the time, Rodriguez was on probation and was asked to step from the vehicle, at which time he attempted to flee. He was immediately apprehended and approximately one ounce of methamphetamine was found on his person. A firearm was also recovered in the vehicle within his arm’s reach.

At the time of his arrest, Rodriguez was a member of a Surenos affiliated gang, and he has prior felony convictions including delivery of a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance, and felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation of this case was conducted by the Oregon State Police, the Boise, Idaho office of the ATF, and the Ontario Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey Sweet and Amy Potter.
