David Warren, 32, a former Baltimore resident, was recently convicted of federal fentanyl trafficking charges in the District Court for the District of Maryland. According to court documents, Warren was involved in a large-scale fentanyl distribution ring that operated in the Baltimore area.
Prosecutors alleged that Warren, along with co-defendants Wayne Prince, Joshua Duffy, Tyrell Jeffries, Barak Olds, and Davante Harrison, conspired to distribute fentanyl from 2020 to 2022. The group allegedly used various communication platforms to coordinate their operations and avoid law enforcement detection.
Warren’s sentencing took place on March 10, 2023, where he was handed a 10-year prison term. In addition to the prison sentence, Warren was also ordered to pay a $100,000 fine and forfeit $200,000 in proceeds from the illegal activities.
The case against Warren was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan L. Burke, Patricia Corwin McLane, and Stephen B. Mercer. Attorneys for the defense included Peter J. Martinez, William B. Purpura Jr., Adam C. Demetriou, and John M. McKenna.
Warren’s co-defendants, including Prince, Duffy, Jeffries, Olds, and Harrison, have also been convicted and sentenced in connection with the fentanyl trafficking charges. The case highlights the ongoing struggle against opioid trafficking and the devastating impact it has on communities across the country.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland commended the work of law enforcement agencies, including the Baltimore Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for their efforts in dismantling the fentanyl distribution ring.
