Luis Alberto Hernandez, Conspiracy to Distribute Narcotics, Oregon 2023

A Mexican National pleaded guilty today for conspiring to distribute and distribute narcotics in and around Portland after being extradited from Canada.

According to the US Department of Justice, Luis Alberto Hernandez, 37, of Mexico, pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to distribute and distribute narcotics in and around Portland.

Hernandez was extradited from Canada in connection with a multi-year investigation by the US Department of Justice, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Portland Police Bureau.

As part of his plea agreement, Hernandez admitted that he conspired to distribute and distribute narcotics, including methamphetamine, in and around Portland between 2018 and 2022.

Hernandez faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine when he is sentenced on March 15, 2024.

The investigation was led by the US Department of Justice, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Portland Police Bureau.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Ryan W. Bounds of the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
