GRIMY NEWS UPDATE — Canton, MI — A massive credit card fraud scheme has landed two Michigan men in hot water after they were indicted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.
Timothy Darnel Keith, 25, and Chris Monte Huddleston, 22, both from Michigan, are facing charges that include conspiracy to commit access device fraud, possession of counterfeit and unauthorized access devices, and possession of access device making equipment.
The duo allegedly sourced stolen credit card account information and other bank details online. They had the sophisticated equipment needed to produce fake credit cards, according to the indictment.
Their heist didn’t stop at producing the counterfeit cards; they traveled to Ohio to use them, having 94 such cards in their possession on April 6.
Should the charges stick, the men face sentences determined by the court, with potential for substantial punishment due to the gravity of the crime and the scale of the offense. Sentencing will take into account factors such as prior criminal records, roles played, and characteristics of the violation.
The investigation was a joint effort by the United States Secret Service in Toledo, and the prosecution is being led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Noah P. Hood.
It’s important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and does not equate to guilt. Keith and Huddleston are entitled to a fair trial where the government bears the burden of proving their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
