Armed Robbery Rocks Harrisburg
A brazen armed robbery shook the streets of Harrisburg when Keith Demetrius Anderson, 53, stormed into the Vape It Smoke Shop on January 9, 2024, in Dauphin County.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Anderson, armed with a handgun, pointed it at a store employee and demanded the money from the register. The employee complied, and Anderson made off with approximately $300.
Anderson’s alleged crime is part of a disturbing trend in Harrisburg, where residents are on edge following a string of violent robberies.
However, the FBI and local law enforcement agencies are cracking down on such crimes, and Anderson’s indictment is a testament to their commitment to keeping the community safe.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Swatara Township Police Department, and the Harrisburg City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams is prosecuting the case.
Anderson is charged with Interference with Commerce by Robbery, and with Use of a Firearm during a Violent Crime, both of which carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
Anderson’s indictment is a reminder that law enforcement agencies will not tolerate such brazen crimes in our communities. Harrisburg residents can rest assured that their safety is a top priority for local and federal authorities.
