Cleveland resident Keith E. Bass, 20, has been indicted for the brazen robberies of three separate banks in Northeast Ohio. The shocking crimes left bank employees shaken and customers stunned.
According to the indictment, Bass allegedly entered the PNC Bank at 7101 Broadway Avenue in Cleveland on September 1, 2015, and made off with $3,119. Just a week later, on September 9, 2015, Bass hit the First Merit Bank at 22595 Lakeshore Boulevard in Euclid, netting $1,250. The final heist took place on November 9, 2015, at the Citizens Bank at 23300 Lakeshore Boulevard in Euclid, where Bass stole $5,140.
The investigation into the daring robberies was a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cleveland Police Department and Euclid Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin R. Filiatraut will be prosecuting the case.
Under the law, if convicted, Bass’s sentence will be determined by the court after considering factors such as his prior criminal record, role in the offense, and the nature of the crime. However, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
An indictment is merely an accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Bass is entitled to a fair trial, where the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
This shocking case highlights the importance of community vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies. The FBI and local police departments are working tirelessly to keep our communities safe from crime.
The case of Keith E. Bass serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of bank robbery. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
