Keith Jenkins, Cocaine Distribution, Louisiana 2022

New Orleans, LA – In a disturbing display of the ongoing cocaine epidemic, 35-year-old Gonzales resident Keith Jenkins has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges. Jenkins, in a shocking turn of events, admitted to participating in a conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine hydrochloride, a Schedule II controlled substance.

According to court documents, Jenkins was charged with violating Title 21, United States Code Sections 841(a)(1), (b)(1)(A), and 846. The indictment also accused him of possessing with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine hydrochloride, a violation of Title 21, United States Code Sections 841(a)(1) and (b)(1)(B).

A United States Attorney Duane A. Evans announced the guilty plea on May 31, 2022. Jenkins’ sentencing is set for August 30, 2022, where he faces a possible sentence of 10 years up to life in prison, a fine of not more than $10,000,000.00, at least five years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee on the conspiracy charge.

The charges also carry a possible sentence of five to 40 years in prison, a fine of not more than $5,000,000.00, at least four years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee for the possession with the intent to distribute charge.

The investigation into Jenkins’ activities was led by members of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant United States Attorney Maurice E. Landrieu, Jr. is handling the prosecution.
