NEW ORLEANS – A Plaquemines Parish man has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after a guilty plea to distributing cocaine in the parish.
According to officials, Dale Phillips, 40, conspired with others to distribute the illicit substance, which was obtained from the Houston, Texas area.
The cocaine distribution operation led to a guilty plea from Phillips, who was subsequently sentenced to 151 months imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
The sentence was handed down as part of the federal sentencing guidelines, which designated Phillips as a ‘Career Offender.’
As part of the sentencing, Phillips was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment fee, followed by a three-year term of supervised release upon his eventual release from prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maurice Landrieu, in collaboration with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana stated that the investigation and prosecution of this case highlight the ongoing efforts to combat the scourge of cocaine trafficking in the region.
