Crack Cocaine Kingpin Darryl Jasmin Sentenced to 5 Years

Darryl Jasmin, a 28-year-old Edgard man, has been locked up for dealing the devil’s dust. U.S. District Court Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon handed down a 60-month sentence to Jasmin, a convicted crack cocaine dealer.

Jasmin’s troubles began on April 12, 2012, when he peddled 28 grams or more of crack cocaine. Just eight days later, on April 20, 2012, he struck again, dealing another massive amount of the illicit substance. His crimes caught up to him when he pleaded guilty to two counts of the indictment on January 10, 2013.

Assistant United States Attorney Sean Toomey led the prosecution in the case, while the Drug Enforcement Administration, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.

As part of his sentence, Jasmin will serve 60 months in prison followed by 4 years of supervised release. During that time, he will be closely monitored by federal authorities and faces additional prison time if he fails to comply with the terms of his release.
