Keith Ney, a 54-year-old Philadelphia man, is facing federal charges for robbing the same bank in Atlantic City that he admitted to robbing in 2010. Ney is accused of entering the Cape Bank at 1501 Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City on April 23, 2015, and producing a demand note that read, ‘I have a gun give money no one will get shot.’
Ney allegedly took cash from the bank and fled on foot. A bank employee reported the robbery to an Atlantic City police officer, who immediately spotted and took Ney into custody. After his arrest, Ney allegedly admitted to his involvement in the robbery.
Ney has a history of bank robbery. In 2011, he was convicted of two counts of bank robbery and sentenced to 57 months in prison. During his plea hearing, he admitted to robbing the Cape Bank in Atlantic City and the Citizens Bank in Philadelphia in 2010.
As a result of his supervised release, Ney faces an additional two years in prison. The bank robbery count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The FBI, Atlantic City Police Department, and Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office investigated the case, leading to Ney’s charges. Ney will appear in federal court today to face the charges.
Keith Ney’s defense counsel is Edward F. Borden Jr. Esq. from Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Ney’s case is a reminder of the importance of supervising those who have committed serious crimes. The FBI and local law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to prevent and investigate crimes like bank robbery.
