Kendrell O’Mars Sheppard, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Mississippi 2020

In a shocking turn of events, 31-year-old Charleston man Kendrell O’Mars Sheppard has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, the incident occurred on May 11, 2020, in Harrison County, Mississippi.

Details of the arrest reveal that Sheppard was a passenger in an F-150 pickup truck traveling eastbound on I-10 when a Biloxi Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers obtained consent to search the truck and discovered two Smith and Wesson firearms and approximately $7,000.00 in cash.

Further investigation led officers to notice a bulge in Sheppard’s sock, which he later admitted was cocaine. After being taken into custody, Sheppard admitted to owning the guns, being a felon, and possessing the cocaine.

The FBI and Biloxi Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Buckner prosecuting the case.

Sheppard is scheduled to be sentenced on May 19, 2022, and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment. However, if he is determined to be an armed career criminal, he faces a minimum of 15 years to life imprisonment.

The guilty plea is a significant blow to Sheppard, who now faces the consequences of his actions. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and the consequences of possessing firearms as a felon.
