Kenny Fernando Castillo, a 29-year-old man, was handed a 12-month prison sentence for his crimes after driving under the influence in Foley, Alabama.
A Foley Police Department arrest on December 14, 2024, led to Castillo’s downfall. The officers suspected that he was not a United States citizen, so they contacted ICE personnel to verify his status. After further investigation, ICE found that Castillo had been previously removed from the United States in 2018. Castillo also had a previous DUI conviction in 2017.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello announced the sentencing. The case was investigated by the Homeland Security Investigations, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Foley Police Department, and other relevant authorities.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kacey Chappelear handled the prosecution on behalf of the United States. Castillo’s crimes are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to eliminate cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
Castillo was ordered to pay $100 in special assessments. Upon his release from prison, he will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings.
