EXTORTION RING EXPOSED IN CONNECTICUT:

In a shocking case of deceit and fear, Kevahn Thorpe, a 25-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, was sentenced to 42 months in prison for extorting a Connecticut resident.

According to court documents, between June 26 and July 7, 2015, Thorpe sent threatening text messages and made phone calls to a victim, demanding money and a pair of sneakers. If the victim failed to comply, Thorpe threatened to publish information that would damage their reputation.

The victim, who was reportedly terrorized by Thorpe’s threats, eventually met with him at a Manhattan hotel on July 7, 2015, and handed over an envelope containing $4,000 cash.

Thorpe was arrested at the time, and on November 4, 2015, he pleaded guilty to two counts of extortion.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito.
