South Bend Man Accused of Possessing Firearm Without a License
The streets of South Bend, Indiana, have seen another violent crime, this time involving a 19-year-old man. Kevin Becerril, a resident of South Bend, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to law enforcement officials, the charges were filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. If convicted, Becerril could face serious penalties, including imprisonment and fines.
The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer, who will prosecute the charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in South Bend emphasizes that an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
As the community continues to grapple with the issue of gun violence, this case serves as a reminder of the severity of the penalties for those who choose to break the law.
In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized the importance of public safety and the need for strict enforcement of firearms laws.
