Erie Felon Unlawfully Possessed Firearm: Kevin Dimitri Tate Pleads Guilty
A former Erie resident, Kevin Dimitri Tate, 24, has pleaded guilty to violating federal firearms laws, according to a statement from Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song.
Tate’s guilty plea was made in federal court, where he faced one count of unlawfully possessing a .380 ACP firearm. He is a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
The investigation that led to Tate’s prosecution was conducted by the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, Erie Bureau of Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Marshall J. Piccinini is prosecuting the case.
The case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and communities to prevent, deter, and prosecute gun crime.
Tate is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed will be based on the seriousness of the offense and Tate’s prior criminal history.
