Khleborod and Barrero, Fentanyl Trafficking, South Carolina 2017
Columbia, South Carolina – In a shocking turn of events, a multi-count, superseding indictment has been filed against Theodore Vitaliy Khleborod, age 28, and Ana Milena Barrero, age 24, for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute numerous drugs, including fentanyl and U-47700.
The charges stem from a joint investigation by Special Agents with ICE-Homeland Security Investigations, Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenville Police Department, and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Andy Moorman, Deputy Criminal Chief for the Narcotics Division, is prosecuting the case.
The case is set to go to trial with a hearing scheduled for Thursday morning, August 17, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. in the federal courthouse in Greenville.
The United States Attorney, Beth Drake, stated that all charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation has shed light on the growing problem of fentanyl and U-47700 trafficking in the region, and law enforcement officials are urging residents to remain vigilant.
