Kimo Little Bird, Sr., age 40, of Little Eagle, South Dakota, was convicted by a federal jury on November 18, 2021, for the aggravated sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl, a crime that unfolded in 2016 while he was living with the victim. The three-day trial in Aberdeen, South Dakota, ended in a guilty verdict on all counts, including Felony Sex Offense Against a Minor While Required to Register as a Sex Offender and Tampering with a Witness.
Acting United States Attorney Dennis R. Holmes confirmed the verdict, emphasizing the severity of the crimes committed by Little Bird, a registered sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act due to a prior conviction for Sexual Abuse of a Minor in September 2006. Despite being legally bound to report his status, he used his position within the household to exploit and abuse a child under his roof.
The abuse occurred over a sustained period in 2016, with Little Bird preying on the young girl who depended on him for safety and shelter. Evidence presented during the trial detailed the predatory nature of his actions, underscoring the violation of trust and the lasting trauma inflicted on the victim.
