King County’s Steven Maurice Williams, 43, has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars for producing child pornography and illegal firearm possession. The grim sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Robert S. Lasnik in Seattle.
Williams, a repeat offender with previous convictions for burglary, theft, stolen property, and domestic violence, is now serving time for his monstrous acts against a 10-year-old girl. He molested the child for three years, starting when she was just seven. The abuse came to light when Williams was moving out of the house he shared with the mother of his two sons.
One of the boys stumbled upon evidence of his father’s crimes while looking through a SD card meant for recording video games. The images and videos led to Williams’ arrest, as law enforcement uncovered 76 images of child pornography on the card and more in a storage locker.
In addition to producing child porn, Williams was found with two firearms, despite being a convicted felon. U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating, ‘This defendant violated a young child, shattering her trust and that of her family.’
Williams will also face state court sentencing for three counts of child rape in about three months. He will be on 15 years of supervised release following his prison term and is required to register as a sex offender.
The investigation into Williams was led by the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Way Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Roscoe Jones handling the prosecution.
