Kirkham, 40, a former human resources director and principal at Hueytown Middle School in Alabama, pleaded guilty today to federal charges of enticing a minor and possessing child pornography.
According to officials, Kirkham entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler to one count of enticing a minor and one count of possession of child pornography. His sentencing hearing is not yet scheduled.
The maximum penalty for child enticement is life imprisonment and a fine of $250,000; the maximum penalty for possessing child pornography is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The FBI, Tuscaloosa Police Department, and Hueytown Police Department investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ward is prosecuting.
Kirkham’s guilty plea comes as a result of a lengthy investigation into allegations of child enticement and the possession of child pornography. The investigation was a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Kirkham’s actions have caused harm and trauma to the victims and their families, and the guilty plea is a significant step towards justice for those affected.
