Kiyel Tyquello Kearney, Ammunition Possession, Virginia 2023

A 20-year-old Washington man, Kiyel Tyquello Kearney, aka ‘KhiGlock,’ and ‘Glock,’ was sentenced to a year and six months in prison for illegally acquiring ammunition in Virginia.

Kearney was previously convicted of unlawful possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle in the Circuit Court of Prince George’s County, Maryland, on April 13, 2023.

Approximately three weeks following his Maryland conviction, Kearney traveled to Arlington, Virginia, and purchased ammunition from a federally licensed gun store on May 3, 2023.

As a previously convicted felon, Kearney could not legally possess firearms or ammunition.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica D. Aber, and the Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Washington Field Division, Craig Kailimai, announced the sentencing by U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel K. Amzallag prosecuted the case.

Kearney’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating federal firearms laws, particularly for those with prior convictions.

The case is a joint effort between the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to combat firearms-related crimes in the Eastern District of Virginia.
