A Lewiston man was sentenced to over 15 years in prison for his role in an interstate robbery that turned violent.
Kourtney Williams, 27, was convicted of interstate robbery conspiracy and using a firearm during a crime of violence in a jury trial on September 12, 2016. On August 2, 2014, at around 11:00 p.m., Williams, armed with a pistol, broke into a residence on Garfield Road in Minot, Maine, with associates in tow. The group intended to steal drugs and money from the occupants.
A crowbar-wielding associate was also present during the break-in. Williams used the pistol to repeatedly threaten and assault the occupants, causing them harm.
The Maine State Police, Lewiston and Auburn Police, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives all contributed to the investigation.
On September 12, 2016, U.S. District Court Judge Jon D. Levy handed down the sentence to Williams. He was sentenced to 184 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
Williams’ crime was a serious one, involving the use of a firearm during a violent crime. The sentence reflects the severity of his actions.
Williams’ case serves as a reminder of the dangers of violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable.
