Felony convict Kyle Dwayne Boleyn, 42, from Iowa, has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison.
Boleyn, a Fayette County felon, was found in possession of a shotgun and ammunition in his car on June 16, 2016. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition on June 29, 2017.
The guilty plea came after law enforcement officers stopped the Ford Mustang in which Boleyn was a passenger in Oelwein, Iowa. Officers discovered the shotgun and ammunition in Boleyn’s possession, as well as materials intended for manufacturing methamphetamine, including pseudoephedrine and Coleman fuel.
Boleyn already had a warrant out for his arrest at the time of the stop. He has at least seven prior felony convictions, which include delivery of methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, sexual abuse, and violation of a sex offense registry law.
Boleyn was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett in Cedar Rapids. He was given 188 months in prison, along with a $100 special assessment. He will also have to serve a five-year term of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Vavricek and investigated by the Oelwein Police Department.
Boleyn is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
