BUFFALO, N.Y. — The grim specter of gang violence struck again as Kyle Eagan, 27, was sentenced to a staggering 265 months in federal prison for Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) and Murder in Aid of Racketeering.
Eagan, a former member of the notorious 10th Street Gang, was handed down the severe sentence by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara following his conviction on multiple charges related to drug trafficking and organized crime.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi revealed that Eagan’s tenure with the gang, spanning from 2000 to 2010, was marked by a relentless campaign of violence and drug dealing across Buffalo’s West Side. Alongside fellow gang members and associates, Eagan sold marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, and other substances while perpetrating acts of terror against rivals.
Eagan personally admitted to several violent crimes, including the shooting deaths of Omar Fraticello-Lugo on September 15, 2008, a drive-by shooting where an individual survived nine gunshot wounds on August 12, 2009, and further attacks against rival gang members in subsequent years.
The sentencing of Eagan is a result of a joint investigation by the New York State Police, Buffalo Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, all led by Major Steven Nigrelli, Commission Daniel Derenda, and Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen, respectively.
This case saw 44 members and associates of the 10th Street Gang charged and convicted, marking a significant blow to one of Buffalo’s most violent criminal organizations.
