A Harrisburg man has been sentenced to serve 12 months and one day in prison for escaping from federal custody, authorities announced Tuesday.
Kyle Eugene Gordon, age 37, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was handed the sentence by United States District Judge Karoline Mehalchick for escaping from the Capital Pavilion Residential Reentry Center in Dauphin County, where he was serving a sentence for narcotics and firearms offenses.
Gordon was a federal inmate at the Capital Pavilion on October 7, 2024, when he escaped. He was apprehended by U.S. Marshals eight days later, on October 15, 2024, as part of an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Scalera prosecuted the case, which was brought by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The office was led by Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus.
Gordon was serving his sentence at the Capital Pavilion Residential Reentry Center, a facility that provides housing and supervision for federal inmates who are nearing the end of their sentences. The Capital Pavilion is located in Dauphin County, just outside of Harrisburg.
The 12-month prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. Gordon will be required to comply with the terms of his supervised release, which may include regular check-ins with a probation officer and any other conditions that the court deems necessary.
The case is a reminder of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the federal justice system, and the consequences that individuals face when they attempt to flee from custody.
