HARRISBURG, PA – A brazen robbery at a Sheetz convenience store in Dauphin County has led to a federal indictment against a local man. Kyle Jaden Morales, 20, of Harrisburg, is accused of using a firearm to steal cash from a store clerk on March 10, 2022.
According to the indictment, Morales entered the Sheetz store at approximately 10:45 AM on March 10, 2022, and approached the cashier. He brandished a 9mm black handgun with a gold barrel and fluted slide, instructing the cashier to open the cash drawers. Morales then took the cash by means of actual and threatened force, violence, and fear of injury.
The indictment further alleges that on March 22, 2022, Morales possessed two loaded firearms – the un-serialized 9mm pistol used during the March 10, 2022, robbery, along with a 9mm Taurus G2c pistol.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and the East Pennsboro Township Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel S. Dalke is prosecuting the case.
The maximum penalty under federal law for the charged offense is up to life imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.
Morales is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, along with a fine and supervised release.
The charges against Morales are a stark reminder of the dangers of gun violence and the importance of community vigilance. As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
