Local Man Sentenced for Crack Cocaine Conspiracy
A Lackawanna man has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for his involvement in a crack cocaine conspiracy.
Andre Jones, Jr., 27, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute crack cocaine, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. Jones was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John M. Alsup stated that Jones was involved in the sale of cocaine and crack cocaine on multiple occasions to a confidential source working with the Drug Enforcement Administration between August 30, 2012 and February 8, 2013.
The investigation into Jones’ activities was a joint effort between the Lackawanna Police Department, under the direction of Chief James Michel, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.
The sentencing is the culmination of a lengthy investigation into the crack cocaine conspiracy. Jones’ involvement in the conspiracy has been confirmed through multiple transactions with a confidential source.
Jones’ sentence is a significant blow to the local crack cocaine trade. The conviction and sentencing of Jones serves as a reminder that those involved in the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics will be held accountable for their actions.
