NORFOLK, Va. – In a disturbing case of heroin trafficking, Lamar Sinclair, 33, of Norfolk, was sentenced to 105 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Sinclair pleaded guilty on September 7. According to court documents, from 2012 to April 2016, Sinclair conspired to distribute heroin in Norfolk and Virginia Beach with approximately eight other individuals.

Shockingly, Sinclair’s heroin was laced with fentanyl, a potent opioid that caused six of his heroin customers to overdose. Fortunately, in each case, police or emergency services were able to revive the victims of the overdoses. Sinclair was aware of the overdoses and boasted that his heroin was extremely potent due to the added fentanyl, even referring to his heroin as "The Missile."

Law enforcement conducted nine controlled purchases of heroin from Sinclair, with two of those purchases testing positive for fentanyl. Despite the dangers of his operation, Sinclair showed no remorse for his actions, instead bragging about the potency of his heroin.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Field Division, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Muhr prosecuting the case. U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Dana J. Boente and DEA Special Agent in Charge Karl C. Colder made the announcement after sentencing by Chief U.S. District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith.
