BUFFALO, N.Y. – In a shocking turn of events, Lamor Runell Bolden, a 27-year-old Buffalo man, has been sentenced for his role in a mail theft conspiracy in New York.
According to sources, Bolden, along with Eric Michael Robinson and Antonio Jones, Jr., conspired to steal mail from mail receptacles in Cheektowaga, NY. The defendants, who were previously convicted, used a stolen key to open authorized mail receptacles and stole mail from the boxes.
On October 2, 2024, Bolden, Robinson, and Jones drove to a mail facility in Cheektowaga at approximately 1:00 a.m. Robinson parked the car behind a row of blue collection mailboxes, while Bolden and Jones got out of the car and stole mail from the mailboxes. The two then got back into the car and Robinson drove away.
A short time later, their car was stopped by law enforcement. At the time the car was stopped, various opened and unopened pieces of mail were found inside. Bolden admits that he and his co-conspirators used the stolen key to open mailboxes at other locations around the Western District of New York.
Bolden was sentenced to serve two years’ probation, including six months of home detention, by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright handled the case.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Nicholas J. Bucciarelli, Boston Division, and the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Coons.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our mail and the consequences of engaging in mail theft and related crimes. As a community, we must remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
