Lance McClendon, 45, Indicted on Drug Charges in West Virginia

A 45-year-old man from Morgantown, West Virginia, has been indicted on drug charges, announced U.S. Attorney Bill Powell.

Lance McClendon is accused of maintaining a home in Monongalia County for the purpose of distributing methamphetamine and cocaine, according to the indictment. He is also accused of possessing methamphetamine in September 2019 in Monongalia County.

McClendon faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $500,000 for maintaining a drug house charge. He also faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000 for the meth count, under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, said Powell.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the West Virginia Probation Office investigated.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
