Larceny Lands Woman in Hot Water
A McLaughlin woman has been sentenced for larceny after forging checks to the tune of $16,761. Tabitha Good House, 27, was handed down a 5-year unsupervised probation sentence, $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund, and ordered to pay $16,761 in restitution.
According to court documents, Good House, who was employed by KLND Radio Station in McLaughlin, forged the signature of station board members and negotiated several checks between December 1, 2012, and March 25, 2013. The checks, totaling $16,761, were negotiated despite Good House knowing she was not entitled to the monies.
Good House was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 17, 2013, and pleaded guilty on October 7, 2013. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley handling the prosecution.
U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing on December 30, 2013. U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann presided over the case.
Good House’s actions have left a trail of financial devastation in her wake, with the total amount of the checks being a significant blow to the KLND Radio Station.
The case serves as a reminder that larceny is a serious offense with serious consequences.
