Laser Pointer Attack: McComb Man Charged
A McComb man is facing serious charges after allegedly aiming a green laser pointer at a medical helicopter in flight, putting the lives of those on board at risk.
According to the indictment filed by the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Steven M. Dettelbach, Ronald E. Deal, Sr., 56, aimed a green laser pointer at a Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center Life Flight helicopter en-route from the hospital to Bluffton Airport on June 17.
The helicopter was in flight at the time of the incident, and the actions of the defendant posed a significant risk to the safety of those on board. The use of laser pointers in this manner is a serious offense and can cause serious harm to pilots and passengers.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation into the incident, and Assistant United States Attorney Joseph R. Wilson is handling the case.
