Lashawn Clayburn, a 19-year-old St. Louis man, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the murder and carjacking of Naomi Miller in Pine Lawn, Missouri.
On January 5, 2019, Clayburn approached Miller as she was about to get into her vehicle outside her residence. He shot her to death and then stole her car, going on a joy-riding stint for several hours.
During his rampage, Clayburn picked up two friends and stopped at a local Steak ‘n Shake for a burger and a milkshake. The next day, he traded Miller’s car for another stolen vehicle, meeting up with a group of friends who claimed to be members of the ‘Murdaa Gang’.
Clayburn was interviewed by federal agents as a result of a series of leads, and he later attempted to enlist his cousin to provide a phony alibi for the night of the murder and carjacking.
As a result of a continuing investigation, Clayburn was indicted by a federal grand jury for murder and carjacking, leading to his guilty plea and today’s sentencing.
The case was investigated by the ATF, the North County Police Cooperative, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Major Case Squad. Assistant United States Attorney Angie E. Danis is prosecuting the case.
Lashawn Clayburn, 19, pleaded guilty in May to murder and carjacking charges. He was sentenced to a 25-year term of imprisonment on today’s date.
