Latrobe Woman Charged with Income Tax Evasion
A resident of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of income tax evasion, announced United States Attorney David J. Hickton today.
The four-count indictment named Debra J. Feather as the sole defendant, who allegedly filed false joint federal tax returns between 2007 and 2010, failing to declare substantial income and resulting in substantial additional tax owing to the United States.
The indictment outlines that the defendant’s actions were not only a breach of trust but also a serious offense against the law, carrying a maximum total sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based on the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorney Leo M. Dillon is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government, with the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation conducting the investigation leading to the indictment.
