Leroy Tchod Cameron Ravenell, Cocaine Trafficking, New Mexico 2017

A federal jury in New Mexico has found Leroy Tchod Cameron Ravenell, 28, guilty of cocaine trafficking. The verdict was delivered on an unspecified date after a three-day trial.

Ravenell, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was arrested on November 11, 2016, by U.S. Border Patrol agents at a checkpoint near Alamogordo, New Mexico. Agents found approximately 0.36 kilograms (0.8 pounds) of cocaine and two firearms concealed in his vehicle.

During the trial, testimony established that Ravenell had purchased the cocaine from another person in a parking lot in El Paso, Texas, with the intention of selling it to others. He was found to have a large amount of cash on his person at the time of his arrest.

Ravenell was remanded into custody after the verdict and will remain detained pending a sentencing hearing, which has yet to be scheduled. The case was investigated by the DEA and the U.S. Border Patrol and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Balla and Richard C. Williams.
