Leslie Ray Upchurch, a 35-year-old resident of McAlester, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm crime. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Upchurch knowingly possessed a Ruger 9mm Luger caliber semi-automatic pistol and several rounds of assorted 9mm Luger caliber ammunition despite being convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the McAlester Police Department, the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, a Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Upchurch was subsequently remanded into the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker represented the United States in the case.
