Lilbourn Man Sentenced to 147 Months for Attempted Carjacking

A 34-year-old man from Lilbourn, Missouri, has been sentenced to 147 months in prison for his role in an attempted carjacking and firearm charges.

Justin D. Perry was sentenced on [undisclosed date] by United States District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. for one felony count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, one felony count of Attempted Carjacking, and one felony count of Brandishing a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence.

Perry’s conviction stems from an incident on December 4, 2015, when he entered an unlocked 2004 Ford pickup truck parked outside the owner’s residence. Inside the truck, he found a Ruger, 9mm caliber pistol, which he took into the residence and pointed at the owner. Perry demanded the keys to the owner’s Ford truck, but the victim was able to convince him to let the victim drive him to Lilbourn.

While en route, the victim contacted police and informed them of the situation. A Missouri State Highway Patrol officers were alerted and eventually apprehended Perry after he attempted to flee on foot.

Perry has a prior conviction history for Stealing a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving While Intoxicated, for which he was sentenced to 15 years in state imprisonment. The federal sentence was ordered to be served consecutively to the state sentence.

The case was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the Government.
