RIVERTON, WY – Lindburg Shongutsie, 69, of Riverton, Wyoming, is facing the consequences for attacking a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer on March 4, 2022. Chief United States District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl handed down an eight-month home confinement sentence, followed by five years of supervised release. Shongutsie was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. The FBI spearheaded the investigation into the assault.
In Cheyenne, 28-year-old Peter James Hernandez received a 60-month prison sentence, along with seven years of supervised release, for his role in a fentanyl and methamphetamine distribution scheme. Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal also ordered Hernandez to pay $500 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration jointly investigated the case.
Torrington resident Jonathan Queen, 38, will spend 87 months behind bars after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and intent to distribute methamphetamine. Judge Alan B. Johnson delivered the sentence, which includes four years of supervised release and a $200 special assessment. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Gillette Police Department, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Christine Diane Kennedy, 41, of Cheyenne, was sentenced to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release for manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, and possessing methamphetamine. Judge Alan B. Johnson also ordered Kennedy to pay $200 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. Cheyenne Police and the DEA investigated the case.
Andrew Dean Rogers, 59, of Riverton, Wyoming, learned his fate for possessing an unregistered firearm. Judge Scott W. Skavdahl sentenced Rogers to 48 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, and a hefty $5,000 fine, in addition to a $100 special assessment. The Cody Police Department, Park County Sheriff’s Office, and ATF were responsible for the investigation.
These sentences, handed down by federal judges in Wyoming, highlight the ongoing battle against drugs and firearms offenses in the state. Assistant United States Attorneys Kerry J.
