Brian Grant, Cocaine Possession with Intent to Distribute, New York 2021

A Lockport man has pled guilty to a serious drug charge, leaving him facing up to 20 years in prison. Brian Grant, 22, of Lockport, NY, entered a guilty plea in federal court to possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

The charge against Grant carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Watkins, Jr., the Niagara County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Grant’s residence on Elmwood Avenue in Lockport and on his vehicle.

During the search, officers recovered cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and $215.00 in cash. The investigation was led by the Niagara County Drug Task Force, under the direction of Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti, and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino.

U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the guilty plea, stating that it is a significant blow to those involved in drug trafficking in the region. The plea is a result of an ongoing effort to combat the flow of illicit substances in Western New York.

Grant is scheduled to be sentenced on February 3, 2021, before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. The sentence will determine the severity of the punishment Grant will face for his crime.

The guilty plea serves as a reminder that those involved in drug trafficking will be held accountable for their actions. The public is urged to report any information regarding suspicious activity to the authorities.
