Logan Brannon, Heroin Conspiracy and Money Laundering, Louisiana 2024

BATON ROUGE, LA – The grim saga of drug kingpin Logan Brannon concluded today as the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced his conviction in a significant multi-state heroin conspiracy that spanned California and Louisiana.

Brannon, 37, from Newport Beach, California, was found guilty on all counts including conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin, actual distribution of heroin, and conspiring to commit money laundering. The verdict came after a jury trial lasting three days before Chief U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson.

Brannon’s reign of terror began in December 2013, when he conspired with individuals across state lines to distribute thousands of pills designed to look like oxycodone but containing over 1 kilogram of heroin. These deadly doses were then delivered to mid-level dealers in Baton Rouge and sold to drug abusers in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes.

Between January and March 2015, Brannon supplied over 30,000 heroin pills for distribution in Baton Rouge. His brazen activities continued until April 2015 when he agreed to engage in financial transactions to conceal the source of his illegal proceeds.

Identified alongside nine others by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Tactical Diversion Squad and IRS Criminal Investigations, Brannon’s organization was a key target in the ongoing war against drugs. His conviction serves as a stark warning to others involved in such activities.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Green emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between federal, state, and local law enforcement. ‘This case highlights the impact multiple agencies can have when they join forces,’ said DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge Brad L. Byerley. The IRS’s Jerome R. McDuffie echoed this sentiment, underscoring the critical role financial investigations play in dismantling drug enterprises.
