Lower Brule Man Sentenced for Assault
A Lower Brule man was sentenced to 2 years of probation, 90 days of jail time, and a $25 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund after being convicted of Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding.
Colin Colombe, age 40, was sentenced on October 22, 2014, by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno. The conviction stems from an altercation that took place on June 25, 2013, in Lower Brule.
According to reports, Colombe got into an altercation with an adult male, resulting in the victim suffering injuries to his leg, as well as bruises, scrapes, and abrasions to his head and body.
Colombe was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 21, 2013, and later pled guilty on August 12, 2014. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Lower Brule Agency.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case, bringing Colombe to justice for his role in the altercation.
