Luis Guzman, Heroin and Firearm Charges, New York 2013

Rochester Man Guilty of Heroin and Firearm Charges

Luis Guzman, 26, of Rochester, NY, has pleaded guilty to distributing heroin and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer M. Noto, who is handling the case, stated that Guzman sold heroin and a .22 caliber revolver to a confidential informant during a police investigation on December 18, 2012.

Guzman admitted to selling heroin and cocaine on approximately 18 other occasions between November 30, 2012 and March 7, 2013. The plea is the result of an investigation by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Delano A. Reid, New York Field Division and Investigators of the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael Ciminelli.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced the guilty plea, which is a significant blow to the local drug trade. The sentencing is scheduled for August 18, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Siragusa.
