Luke Austin Homer, Methamphetamine Distribution, Oklahoma 2023

MCALESTER, OK — Luke Austin Homer, 36, is headed to federal prison for dealing methamphetamine in eastern Oklahoma. The man was sentenced to 84 months behind bars for possession with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of actual meth, a charge that cuts deep in a region ravaged by the drug epidemic.

Homer’s name was called in U.S. District Court in Muskogee, where Judge James H. Payne handed down the nonparoleable sentence. The conviction stems from an incident on or about March 5, 2016, when authorities say Homer knowingly possessed and intended to push more than five grams of pure meth in the Eastern District of Oklahoma — a violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B).

The case was built through a joint investigation by the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Federal prosecutors say the evidence left no room for doubt — Homer was caught in possession with all the hallmarks of distribution: packaging, quantity, and criminal intent.

Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Hammer, who prosecuted the case, emphasized the federal government’s hard line on meth trafficking. ‘This sentence sends a message,’ Hammer stated. ‘We’re not looking the other way while drugs poison our communities.’

Homer will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he’s transported to a designated federal prison. With no chance of parole, he’ll serve every month of the 84-month sentence.

The Eastern District of Oklahoma continues to battle a surge in meth-related crimes. Homer’s conviction is one of dozens tied to ongoing federal sweeps targeting drug networks across rural Oklahoma. Authorities warn the crackdown is far from over.
