A Michigan man has been held accountable for his role in the January 6th Capitol breach. Luke Michael Lints, 28, of Traverse City, Michigan, pleaded guilty to interfering with law enforcement officers during a civil disorder.
Lints was part of a large group of rioters who attempted to violently push their way past law enforcement officers guarding the Lower West Terrace tunnel of the Capitol. He entered the tunnel at approximately 3:10 p.m. and made his way toward the front of the police line, using a police riot shield to push back against a law enforcement officer.
Lints admits to obstructing, impeding, or interfering with law enforcement officers lawfully engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties incident to and during the commission of a civil disorder.
He was arrested on June 30, 2022, in Traverse City, Michigan. Lints faces a statutory maximum of five years in prison for interfering with officers during a civil disorder, as well as potential financial penalties.
The court will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
