Lynn Township Man Charged with Enticing a Minor
PHILADELPHIA – In a shocking turn of events, 42-year-old George William Schantz of Lynn Township, PA has been charged with enticement of a minor. The news comes as a stark reminder of the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
According to reports, Schantz was charged today by Indictment with enticement of a minor. The crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a maximum possible sentence of life. Additionally, Schantz faces up to a lifetime of supervised release, a possible fine, a $100 special assessment, and a $5,000 additional special assessment if convicted.
The case was investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office is being led by Assistant United States Attorney Sherri A. Stephan in the prosecution of Schantz.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
