Maijah Greene, Conspiring to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Michigan 2022

DETROIT, MI – Maijah Greene, 35, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine trafficking operation in Detroit.

A federal jury found Greene guilty of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in 2022. Greene was the mastermind behind a ring that brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars in cocaine sales.

According to court documents, Greene used his position as a trusted associate to recruit and manage a network of dealers, who would sell cocaine in the Detroit area. The operation was eventually dismantled by law enforcement, who seized over $1 million in cash and cocaine from Greene’s associates.

Greene’s sentencing comes as a major blow to the city’s ongoing struggle with opioid addiction. ‘This sentence sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the flow of deadly drugs into our communities,’ said a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Greene’s defense team argued that he was a minor player in the operation and that his involvement was largely coerced. However, the prosecution presented evidence that Greene was a key figure in the ring and that he had made significant profits from the cocaine sales.

Greene’s sentencing hearing was held in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, where he was represented by Jeanine Brunson and David Patrick Cowen. The case was prosecuted by Randall C. Roberts and Sarah Alsaden.

The case has been a long time coming, with Greene being arrested in 2022 on charges of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine. He was initially released on bail, but was rearrested in 2022 after failing to appear in court.
