Pittsburgh Mail Thief Sentenced to 21 Months in Prison
Tyrone Mobley, a 52-year-old man, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for stealing mail in Pittsburgh, a crime he was previously convicted of in 2016.
According to court records, Mobley was previously convicted of theft of U.S. mail on December 19, 2016. However, he continued to violate the terms of his supervised release, including stealing mail in March and May 2019 in the Shadyside and East End sections of Pittsburgh.
Senior United States District Judge Donetta Ambrose made the ruling after a hearing for alleged violations of supervised release conditions. Mobley was taken into U.S. Marshal’s custody following the hearing.
Assistant United States Attorney Gregory C. Melucci prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
United States Attorney Scott W. Brady commended the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the City of Pittsburgh Police for their efforts in bringing Mobley to justice.
The case highlights the importance of law enforcement agencies working together to prevent and investigate crimes.
Mobley will serve 21 months in prison followed by 11 months of supervised release.
